Twenty thousand rupees, once, when the earning member of a poor household dies
This is not a pension. It is one payment to a family that has lost the person who earned, and in practice it is the money that pays for the funeral. Claim it within three years. It is separate from the family pension, and a family can be owed both — the family pension is for the wife or husband of someone who was already a pensioner, this one is for a household whose earner never was.
What you will need
- Death certificateThe one the municipality or the panchayat gave you.
- Aadhaar cardBoth sides.
- BPL ration cardThe card itself says BPL or APL on it.
- Bank passbookThe first page, where the account number and IFSC are printed.
- Something that shows where you liveElectricity bill, ration card or voter card.
